  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the pre-made pie crust according to package instructions until golden brown.
  • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
  • Gradually add the milk and cream to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the egg yolks, butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the chocolate filling into the baked pie crust.
  • Allow the pie to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Refrigerate the pie for at least 2 hours until set.
  • Top with whipped cream before serving.
