Ingredients
  

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Fresh edible flowers for decoration

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until pale and fluffy.
  • Sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt, and gently fold to combine.
  • Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract until just mixed.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  • Once the cakes are cooled, spread whipped cream between the layers and on top of the cake.
  • Decorate with fresh edible flowers before serving.
