Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes peeled and quartered
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic chives, or cheese for added flavor

Instructions
 

  • Peel and quarter the russet potatoes.
  • Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
  • Add a generous pinch of salt and bring the water to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  • Add softened butter and heavy cream to the potatoes.
  • Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.
  • Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  • Optional: Stir in garlic, chives, or cheese for added flavor.
