- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter chilled and diced
- 6-8 tablespoons ice water
- 1 cup fruit filling or savory filling
- 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
Add diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add ice water, mixing until dough forms.
Divide the dough into two balls, flatten them, and wrap in plastic.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out one dough ball on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
Cut out circles using a pastry cutter or glass.
Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle.
Fold the dough over the filling, pinch the edges to seal, and cut small slits on top.
Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Place on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
