Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and softened butter.
  • Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  • Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  • Place the loaf in a greased bread pan, cover, and let rise again for 30-40 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Brush the top of the loaf with beaten egg for a golden crust.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
