- 400 g pasta rigatoni or penne
- 500 g ground beef or sausage
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 800 g canned tomatoes crushed
- 200 g mozzarella cheese shredded
- 100 g Parmesan cheese grated
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Add ground beef or sausage; cook until browned.
Pour in crushed tomatoes; season with salt and pepper.
Simmer the sauce for 15 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
In a large baking dish, layer half of the pasta and half of the meat sauce.
Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses; repeat layers.
Top with remaining cheese and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
