Ingredients
  

  • 400 g pasta rigatoni or penne
  • 500 g ground beef or sausage
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 800 g canned tomatoes crushed
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 100 g Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add ground beef or sausage; cook until browned.
  • Pour in crushed tomatoes; season with salt and pepper.
  • Simmer the sauce for 15 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  • In a large baking dish, layer half of the pasta and half of the meat sauce.
  • Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses; repeat layers.
  • Top with remaining cheese and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
